Ameen Saleem,bassist was born and raised in Washington,DC. In 1992 his parents enrolled him in the District of Columbia Youth Orchestra program where he first was introduced to the acoustic bass. In 1993 he auditioned for and was accepted to the Duke Ellington School of the Arts where he was introduced to jazz(1993-1997). He attended North Carolina Central University from 1997-2001, earning a Bachelor's Degree with a major in Music Performance. From 2002-2005, he attended CUNY Queens College in Flushing, New York, earning a Master's Degree, majoring in Music Performance while touring with Winard Harper Sextet (2002-2009).Ameen has toured and performed with various artist playing across genres. For almost a decade (2009-2018), Ameen Saleem has been toured extensively across the US, Europe and Japan with The Roy Hargrove Quintet and the Roy Hargrove Big Band. In 2015 he released his first album of original compositions and collaborations titled GROOVE LAB which provides music for all listeners. He now continues to perform and teach worldwide with his own groups and musicians such as Sullivan Fortner, The Baylor Project, George Garzone, Kenny Garett, Nicola Conte, Chiara Civello, Antonio Faro, Domenico Sanna and various other artists playing a wide rang of music.
