He began playing the trumpet at the age of 10, and found his passion for jazz at 15. Ted's passion for jazz led him to pursue music at the Ohio State University. During this time Ted performed with Midwest jazz legends Gene Walker and Bobby Floyd. He also toured regionally and abroad with the Afro-Rican ensemble. In 2003, Ted enrolled in the graduate program at Rutgers University in New Jersey to study with master trumpet teacher William “Prof.” Fielder.  During his studies Ted became involved in the NYC jazz scene playing with artists such as Cecil Brooks III, Bruce Williams, Brad Leali, Jerome Jennings, Kyle Kohler, Billy Hart, Alvester Garnet.  Ted has appeared on ABC’s Nightline news with the Cecil's Big Band, and “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” performing with “Jersey Boys”. Ted has appeared at jazz festivals across the globe in Austria, Switzerland, France, and St. Lucia. In 2006 Ted was a participant in The Betty Carter Jazz Ahead program at the Kennedy Center. Ted co-leads the dynamic jazz quartet “New Tricks” with veteran saxophonist Mike Lee.  New Tricks released their self-titled record in 2009 and released their 2nd record “Alternate Side” in 2011 to critical acclaim.  New Tricks has toured throughout the country performing at the nations finest clubs, universities, and jazz festivals.  Ted also performs regularly with various artists in many of NYC’s finest venues such as Smalls, the Zinc Bar, the Blue Note, Fat Cat and many others.Ted has a passion for sharing jazz with students and is an active educator teaching private lessons, ensembles, and workshops.  He has also performed clinics with New Tricks at Oberlin College, Indiana University, and many other major universities and high schools.  In the fall of 2011 Ted became an active instructor at “Jazz House Kids”, teaching student improv, an adult ensemble, and is a lead teacher in the Newark public schools “Artist in Residence” program.  He was also a faculty member at JHK’s summer jazz camp.  Ted is thrilled to be a part of the Jazz House Kids family, and takes pride in contributing to such a warm and rich musical community. From 2006- 2011 Ted toured with the First National Tour of the Tony award winning Broadway show "Jersey Boys". @font-face { font-family: "Times New Roman";}@font-face { font-family: "Verdana";}p.MsoNormal, li.MsoNormal, div.MsoNormal { margin: 0in 0in 0.0001pt; font-size: 12pt; font-family: "Times New Roman"; }table.MsoNormalTable { font-size: 10pt; font-family: "Times New Roman"; }div.Section1 { page: Section1; }“Ted is a great talent and very clearly dedicated to the music.  The sound of his trumpet commands the listener to tune in. - Carmen Lundy, vocalist and recording artist“One of my favorite trumpet players” - Cecil Brooks, drummer, producer, club owner@font-face { font-family: "Times New Roman";}@font-face { font-family: "Verdana";}@font-face { font-family: "Calibri";}p.MsoNormal, li.MsoNormal, div.MsoNormal { margin: 0in 0in 10pt; line-height: 115%; font-size: 11pt; font-family: Calibri; }table.MsoNormalTable { font-size: 10pt; font-family: "Times New Roman"; }div.Section1 { p
