New York-based pianist/composer Jason Yeagers music is deeply expressive and multi-faceted. A recording artist on Greg Osbys Inner Circle Music label, Yeager released his debut CD, Ruminations, in March 2011. Mentored by jazz pianists Danilo Pérez, Fred Hersch and Ran Blake, Yeagers evolving musical personality reflects his love of jazz and improvisation combined with a deep interest in exploring many of the worlds great musical styles and traditions. His music is jazz, featuring plenty of improvisation, while incorporating diverse musical elements such as Vietnamese Buddhist chant-inspired melodies, drum n bass rhythms, classical music, Argentine folk styles and more.
Following his graduation from the Tufts University/New England Conservatory Double Degree Program in 2010, Jason moved to New York City, where he is playing with a number of different groups in many styles of music. Making his Smalls debut, Jason comes with fresh compositions and improvisational approaches as he continues to develop his sound and aesthetic, along with that of his trio.
