The SmallsLIVE Foundation for Jazz Art & Education is a not-for-profit arts organization.
Our mission is to subsidize the operation of our venues, recording projects, tours and educational initiatives.
During this Covid-19 pandemic our mission is to keep the clubs floating until business can be restored.
We will also sponsor live-streamed concerts from the club that will keep the musicians working during this period.
We will also be offering emergency aid for Jazz musicians in need due to this calamity.

Royalties are paid directly to the musicians by The SmallsLIVE Foundation.
Members sponsor their favorite musicians by listening to their music.
Live Stream
Smalls Jazz Club has been a pioneer in live streaming and began streaming shows live from the venue in 2007.
There is no cost to watch our live streams. During normal operating times the entire evening is streamed.
During this Covid-19 pandemic period there will be special live concerts scheduled in advance.

SmallsLIVE Members may sponsor artists of their choice and receive their music as downloads or CDs.

Saxophonist and Composer Adam Brenner was born on March 31, 1960 and began playing music at 3 years old by playing on the piano at home. Music of all kinds was played around the house growing up and Adam was exposed to all kinds of music from the time he was born.Adam began musical studies in grade school with the violin at 9, clarinet at 10 and the alto saxophone at age 11. At age 15 or 16, his high school band director let Adam borrow a few jazz recordings by Dexter Gordon and John Coltrane that had a profound impact upon him.Adam studied at Rutgers University from 1978 to 1982, where he graduated with a B.A. in music performance. At Rutgers, Adam made a life-long connection with his professor, Paul Jeffrey. Paul was a great inspiration to Adam who became a pivotal force at Rutgers and brought many great guest artists-in-residence to Rutgers including George Coleman, Sonny Stitt, James Moody.Adam joined the Lionel Hampton Orchestra in July 1982 and began a 5 year stint with Lionel Hampton. After over a dozen European tours and a tour of South America, Adam left Lionel Hampton and began to work with various bands in and around the New Jersey and New York City area.Adam began a fruitful association with legendary saxophonist George Coleman in 1987, beginning with joining the George Coleman Octet. The first gigs included Frank Foster and Junior Cook in the saxophone section of the octet. Around this time, Adam also began studying privately with George Coleman. Adam is very thankful for the opportunity to have performed, recorded and studied with George Coleman.Adam has had the opportunity to perform regularly with the groups of Vernel Fournier, Bill Lee and George Coleman as well as many others. He has received high praises from his peers, as well as many legendary artists such as Ahmad Jamal, Michael Brecker, James Moody, Lou Donaldson and Benny Golson.
