Roy Mor is a New-York based pianist and composer, originally from Israel. After a stint studying acting, serving as a military paratrooper and earning a university degree in Philosophy with honors, he left a career as a software engineer with Microsoft to move to New York and pursue his true passion - music.
Since his arrival in New York he has performed at venues including Rockwood Music Hall, Smalls Jazz Club, Fat Cat and many other of the city’s jazz clubs with regular gigs as a leader and sideman. He collaborated with some of New York’s most acclaimed up and coming jazz artists (Francisco Mela, Henry Cole, Amos Hoffman, Stacy Dillard, Anat Cohen, Yotam Silberstein, Jeremy Dutton, Curtis Nowosad and others).
Roy graduated from The New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music (Dean's List), and is a recipient of the Eubie Blake Jazz Award for 2013 and 2014, and of the Dodge Foundation Grant for 2012, 2013 and 2014.
