Michele Polga graduated in saxophone at the Martini Conservatory of Bologna and in jazz at the Bomporti Conservatory of Trento with Franco D'Andrea. He attended seminars of Veneto Jazz and those of Siena Jazz, winning a scholarship to the IASJ (International Association of School of Jazz) clinics by David Liebman. The following year, he will attend a course in Boston at the prestigious Berklee College of Music. During his career, he played with Fabrizio Bosso, Paolo Fresu, Franco D’Andrea, Carla Bley, Steve Swallow, Maria Schneider, Jeff Gardner, Eliot Zigmund, Tino Derado,  Ferenc Nemeth, Paul Jeffrey,  and many others. What distinguishes Michele Polga, in a very broad international jazz scene, is his ability to phrase and the consistency of his solos. Among his Italian colleagues, he stands out for his understanding of the modern interpretation tradition, the high performance levels, and for the originality of his compositions. These aspects put him in the group of musicians who give unique performances worldwide.
