Chico Pinheiro is a guitarist, composer, and arranger widely regarded as one of the leading voices in contemporary Brazilian Jazz and Jazz. Born in São Paulo, Brazil, he began playing guitar at the age of six and was already working professionally as a session musician by fourteen. Pinheiro has been featured in the “Rising Star Guitarist” list multiple times in DownBeat Magazine’s Critics Poll and continues to receive acclaim for his originality and expressive depth. He also received consecutive Grammy Award nominations in the Best Latin Jazz Album category in 2020 and 2021, the latter for his album City of Dreams. In 2024, he was also nominated for the Prêmio da Música Brasileira—often referred to as the Brazilian Grammy—for Two Brothers, a duo album with Romero Lubambo.Today, Chico is recognized as a leading figure both within and beyond the Brazilian music scene, distinguished for his work as a guitarist, composer, and arranger. In addition to his projects as a leader, he has collaborated with an extraordinary range of artists, including Placido Domingo, Kathleen Battle, Brad Mehldau, Kenny Werner, Dianne Reeves, Kurt Elling, Danilo Pérez, Bob Mintzer, Herbie Hancock, Brian Blade, Ron Carter, Chris Potter, John Patitucci, Dave Grusin, Renee Rosnes, Esperanza Spalding, John Beasley, Anthony Wilson, Julian Lage, Peter Bernstein, Ivan Lins, Rosa Passos, Dori Caymmi, João Donato, Elza Soares, Joe Lovano, Luciana Souza, Lee Ritenour, and many others, as well as ensembles such as the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, WDR Big Band, The Paris Jazz Big Band, The Danish Radio Big Band, the Seasons Guitar Quartet.
