Jim Pryor was born in Chicago, IL, and has been active in the New York City music scene since 1997. Pryor is the recipient of a Jazz Fellowship Award given by the American Pianists Association and the first place winner of the Great American Jazz Piano Competition. Pryor has performed with many outstanding musicians such as Dianne Reeves, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Jennifer Holliday, Lalah Hathaway, Amel Larrieux, Vanessa Rubin, Hiram Bullock, Ron Affif, Herlin Riley, Dwayne Burno, Wes Anderson, Carlos Ward, Michael Urbaniak, Rufus Reid, Alvin Batiste, and Clarence Johnson III, just to name a few. Pryor has toured Europe, South America, North America, and Japan. Pryor has also performed on radio and television programs in Europe and the United States. He has performed on numerous national and international jazz festivals and has performed in world renowned concert halls such as Roy Thompson Hall, Chicago Symphony Center, Kölner Philharmonie, Kurhaus Wiesbaden, Festspielhaus Baden-Baden, and the Kennedy Center. Pryor currently performs with the international touring act "Queen Ester Marrow's The Harlem Gospel Singers Show."
