Guitarist, vocalist, performer & educator, Tony Davis was born and raised in Hartford, CT. He has been surrounded by music his entire life. Being the son of two world-renowned jazz musicians, trombonist Steve Davis & pianist Mary DiPaola, he had the fortune of growing up and learning from jazz legends such as Chick Corea, Freddie Hubbard and Jackie McLean, whom his parents worked with. He quickly developed a passion for music and after discovering Jimi Hendrix at age 14, he began his pursuit on the guitar. In 2017 Tony received a Bachelor's Degree in Jazz Studies from the esteemed Jackie McLean Institute of Jazz, University of Hartford. He then moved to NYC to continue his musical pursuits and received a Master's Degree in Music from The City College of NY in 2019. Tony has studied under the tutelage of some of the greatest musicians in the world including Peter Bernstein, Bobby Broom, Steve Wilson, Eric McPherson & Russell Malone. Davis currently resides in Manhattan and regularly performs at some of NYC's most notable venues such as The Blue Note, Smalls and Mezzrow Jazz Clubs. He has performed with giants such as Christian McBride, Antoine Roney, Larry Willis and Harold Mabern. Tony has played major festivals such as The Newport Jazz Festival & Greater Hartford Jazz Festival and was featured as a rising star guitarist in the 2016 Wes Montgomery Tribute Festival in Indianapolis, IN. In 2018 he performed for Angela Davis at her honorary doctorate ceremony at the University of Hartford. In 2019 he was signed by the acclaimed Posi-Tone record label and released his debut album "Golden Year", which features an all-star lineup including: Dezron Douglass, Eric McPherson, Steve Davis, Alina Engibaryan, Steve Wilson & David Bryant. In March 2021 he released his first solo (guitar & voice) project with an EP entitled "Tres Palabras". Davis is also a sought-after educator, who teaches both privately in NYC and through various prestigious institutions, such as The Newport Jazz Assembly.   Tony Davis' distinct voice runs the gamut of nearly every musical genre. Rooted in the jazz and latin traditions, he explores a myriad of musical influences through unique arrangements and original songs. This includes fresh interpretations of R&B, singer-songwriter, Afro-Cuban, Boleros, Salsa, Brazilian Bossa Nova & Samba, Folk & Blues, and classic jazz standards.  His ability to seamlessly weave through his vast array of influences makes him one of the most unique upcoming voices on the guitar today.
