Drew Drew Anderson, is a NYC based Jazz trumpeter, composer, and bandleader. He has performed with historic Jazz artists - the late Randy Weston, Candido de Guerra Camero, Reggie Workman, and Charles Tolliver - as well as with vanguard contemporaries like Ulysses owens jr., Jerome Jennings, Christopher McBride, Omar Hakim, and Endea Owens. He has performed at The jazz standard, Small’s, Minton’s, NJPAC,the National Jazz Museum of Harlem, and at internationally-celebrated venues like Dizzy’s Club Coca-Cola in New York and Sculler’s in Boston. Drew is a versatile musician, appearing with the artist Solange - at the Guggenheim Museum, Panorama Festival, AfroPunk, Dave Chappelle’s Radio City Music Live, and Jay-Z’s Made in America Festival - as well at the Kennedy Center with Sun Ra’s Arkestra.
Drew is a graduate of The New School of Jazz and Contemporary Music with a Bachelor of Fine Arts. He earned his degree through a full-tuition scholarship. Anderson has experience leading is own ensemble, The Newtet. Under his leadership the Newtet has performed regularly in NYC, including a weekly Jam Session at the Sound Bite Restaurant, Times Square Music Festival, Union Square Lunch Concert Series, and Chelsea Music Hall - with the Soul in the Horn music movement.
