Born in Maracaibo, Venezuela; starts its studies at the age of 8 at Don Angel Mottola School of Music. Years later he moves to Caracas to study at the Simon Bolivar Music Conservatory and with pianist Gerry Weil in Caracas. At the same time, begins to play as a classical percussionist at the Teresa Carreño Youth Symphony Orchestra of Venezuela and right away gets himself into the jazz scene in Venezuela. Since then, he’s been participating on several festivals and performed on some of the best Concert Halls and Venues around Europe, United States, Asia, Mexico, Costa Rica and Venezuela; such as, Großes Festspielhaus (Salzburg, Austria), Gasteig Munchen (Munich, Germany), Stavanger Concert Hall (Stavanger, Norway), La Halle aux Grains (Toulouse, France), Royal Festival Hall (London, England), Konserthuset Stockholm (Stockholm,Sweden), Teatro alla Scala (Milano, Italy), Cemal Reşit Rey (Istambul, Turkey), Tokyo Metropolitan Theater (Tokyo, Japan), National Center for the Performing Arts (Beijing, China), Shanghai Symphony Hall and Shanghai Urban Music Lawn (Shanghai, China), Kennedy Center (DC, USA), UN Headquarters, Dizzy ́s Club Coca Cola and Smalls Jazz Club (NYC, USA), Plaza de Armas (Zacatecas, Mexico), Teatro Teresa Carreño (Caracas, Venezuela), El Sotano (San Jose, Costa Rica), among others, as a jazz vibraphonist and percussion player. He has also participated with many great artists such as Sting, Lang Lang, Gustavo Dudamel, Paquito D ́Rivera, Arturo O ́Farrill, Adam O ́Farrill, John Beasley, Jason Brown, Mimi Jones, Diego Amador, Raul Jaurena, Marc Cary, Luis Perdomo, Rodney Green, Dave Samuels, Francisco Pacheco, Jorge Glem, Linda Briceño, among others. He also participated as a special guest on Miguel Siso ́s album “Identidad”. This album won a Latin Grammy as the best “Instrumental Music album” on 2018, giving Juan Diego his first Grammy as a sideman. He is a current student at Manhattan School of Music assigned to the studio of Stefon Harris and Joe Locke.
