Stjepko Gut (also known as Steve Gut) is a Belgrade based jazz musician, born in Ruma 15.12.1950. Studied trumpet at the Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts. As a conductor, he won first place in the first Austrian Big Band Competition. He's one of the most famous jazz brass players from Serbia, others being Duako Gojkovi and Miloje Markovi. He was a member of the Lionel Hampton All Stars for 2 years, one of 2 white players at the time in that band. He made international tours, performances and recordings with Vince Benedetti, Sal Nistico, Clark Terry, Wild Bill Davis,Charly Antolini, Horace Parlan, Mel Lewis, Kenny Washington, and Dusko Gojkovic. Member of the faculty at the Graz Institut for Jazz since 1984.
