Luigi Grasso Alto and Tenor sax, piano, composer, educator. Luigi Grasso was born in Ariano Irpino, Italy on 28th September 1986. He started to study classical and jazz music at age of 4. Alredy at 10 years old he was performing all over Italy and Europe. In 1997 he started to study with Agostino Di Giorgio (Chuck Waynes pupil) and three years later with the legendary jazz pianist and educator Barry Harris, who became much more than a teacher. He took part in most important Italian and European competition: Baronissi Jazz , Premio internazionale Massimo Urbani (2° Place), Bravo Bravissimo (1° place ), 2e Concours International de Soliste de Jazz, Montecarlo (3° place), Concorso TIM Internaional Music Competition and many more; he also worked in many European Television. From 2000 to 2009 he played in most of important festivals, Jazz clubs and theatres in France, Holland, Germany, Russia, Norway, Switzerland, Austria, Slovenia and more. He made his first trip to the United States in 2008 playing at Smalls jazz club, Fat Cat, Iridium jazz club and many others. He played with: Barry Harris, Frank Wess, Kenny Barron, Bobby Durham, Harry Allen-Joe Cohn quartet, Leroy Williams, Steve Grossman, Pasquale Grasso, Nicola Dary , Rossano Sportiello, Grant Steward, Tom Kirkpatrick, Dan Barrett, Ehud Asherie, Ari Roland, Dado Moroni, Sacha Perry, David Wong, Gianni Basso and the Torino Jazz Orchestra, Andrea Pozza Trio etc&.. In 2006 he started to study Classical Composition with Chiara Benati and Francesco Carluccio.
