The SmallsLIVE Foundation for Jazz Art & Education is a not-for-profit arts organization.
Our mission is to subsidize the operation of our venues, recording projects, tours and educational initiatives.
During this Covid-19 pandemic our mission is to keep the clubs floating until business can be restored.
We will also sponsor live-streamed concerts from the club that will keep the musicians working during this period.
We will also be offering emergency aid for Jazz musicians in need due to this calamity.

I am a New York-based composer and performer. In addition to composing with various notational practices, I am also deeply committed to the art of improvisation and have worked in various forms of jazz, punk, electronic and experimental music. I am currently the director of Wet Ink, a composers collective and ensemble dedicated to experimental contemporary music. I have also collaborated with ensembles including the Ensemble Cairn (Paris), the New Mendelssohn Chamber Orchestra (Leipzig), the Janecek Philharmonic (Czech Republic), the SEM Ensemble (New York), MATA Micro Orchestra (New York), Red Light (New York), Present Music (Milwaukee) and the Vega String Quartet (Atlanta). Some upcomming projects include new pieces for the Paris Conservatoire, the Ensemble XXI (Dijon), Due East (New York) and Les Percussions de Strasbourg. I studied saxophone and clarinet with Bunky Green and Richard Oatts and have studied composition with Tristan Murail, Fred Lerdahl, Nils Vigeland and Sebastian Currier. I have a bachelors degree in performance and a masters degree in composition from the Manhattan School of Music and am currently a doctoral candidate in composition at Columbia University, where I am also a music history instructor. Please visit my website for upcoming shows and more sounds. I'll be posting new sounds here very soon! And please, please use headphones while listening!Weblinks:www.alexmincek.com
