Pianist & Composer Leo Genovese was born in Venado Tuerto, Argentina. He has performed and recorded with his own bands, including Leo Genovese and the Chromatic Gauchos, as well as with Space Pilots, Tim Hagans, Hal Crook, Darren Barrett, George Garzone, Francisco Mela, Joe Lovano, Bob Gulloti, Phil Grenadier, Dave Santoro, Chris Cheek and Ben Monder. In 2004, he released his first solo album entitled HAIKUS II by Spanish label Fresh Sound Records. Genovese developed a collaborative relationship with Grammy-winning bassist and vocalist Esperanza Spalding, a fellow Berklee alum. Since 2005, he has toured with Spalding throughout the U.S., South American, Europe, Asia, Africa and elsewhere. Spalding provided vocals on numerous tracks on SEEDS, Genovese's second album as a leader. He studied piano at the University of Rosario in Argentina and at Berklee College of Music in Boston. His artistic philosophy centers around the power of music to raise awareness for the people struggling with economic, social and political challenge, and be a force for togetherness and good will.
