The SmallsLIVE Foundation for Jazz Art & Education is a not-for-profit arts organization.
Our mission is to subsidize the operation of our venues, recording projects, tours and educational initiatives.
During this Covid-19 pandemic our mission is to keep the clubs floating until business can be restored.
We will also sponsor live-streamed concerts from the club that will keep the musicians working during this period.
We will also be offering emergency aid for Jazz musicians in need due to this calamity.

The Jay Collins Quintet
"Jazz is a huge part of what I learned about music, but it's just a small piece of what I do.”
One of the most sought-after touring musicians in American music, Jay is perhaps
best known for his saxophone, flute, and horn-section arrangements for many artists including
Gregg Allman, Allman Brothers Band,
(the late)Levon Helm (of The Band),
Donald Fagen’s Dukes of September
(w/ Michael McDonald and Boz Scaggs), James Hunter, latin percussionist Bobby Sanabria, and jazz greats such as the late composer Andrew Hill, French pianist Jacky Terrasson, guitarist Ed Cherry, and the (late) swing bassist
LeRoy Vinnegar. Jay has also performed regularly with Smalls favorites, Jason Lindner and Omer Avital, and with
NYC Blues guitarists/vocalists Chris Bergson and Scott Sharrard.
Jay has played on 2 Grammy-winning recordings
with Mr. Levon Helm, and a platinum-selling DVD with
the Allman Brothers Band. In recent years, Mr. Collins has also become recognized for his gritty singing and his singular songwriting. These days, Jay fronts his band as a singer and blows
exciting solos with his saxophone and flute.
“Collins’ soulful croak definitely deserves to be heard” -Time Out, NYC
In an era where most have learned to play music in a school,
Mr. Collins is one of those increasingly rare musicians who learned to play, “on the bandstand”.
With his Kings County Band, Collins mixes up classic Soul,
New Orleans rhythms, and Blues into a funky stew that satisfies!
Sponsorships are tax-deductable donations that directly support the musicians in this band. You are sponsoring
