The David Ambrosio / Russ Meissner Sextet

NYC Veteran bassist David Ambrosio has teamed up with his long time musical compatriot of over 20 years to form the DAVID AMBROSIO/RUSS MEISSNER SEXTET. The groups most recent release, MOMENTS IN TIME on SteepleChase Recordings, features four other stellar musicians including alto saxophonist and long time sideman in Paul Motion’s Trio +2 Loren Stillman, the amazing multi instrumentalist Matt Renzi, the incredibly versatile guitarist Nate Radley and subtly masterful pianist Leonard Thompson. The music on this recording represents decades of incredible music making and history between these internationally renowned musicians.

DownBeat magazine says this about the Sextet’s most recent recording:

“The duo’s fluidity in navigating meters and seamless transitions informs the engaging, shimmering sound of Moments In Time. Meissner and Ambrosio ably bridge the poles, keeping things open yet grounded, probing yet cohesive. Their "I’ll finish your sentence simpatico" bolsters the ensemble and soloists with a breathing, yet commanding, pulse. ” I
