Smalls Showcase: Fima Chupakhin Quintet

Fima Chupakhin is a NYC-based Ukrainian jazz pianist, multimedia composer, renowned sideman and a band-leader of his "Fima Trio".  The Fima Trio will perform two special sets that night.

The first set is dedicated to the great jazz pianists, whose music continues to shape Fima’s outlook as an artist. It includes pieces composed or frequently played by Ahmad Jamal, Red Garland, Bill Evans, Mulgrew Miller, Wynton Kelly, Thelonious Monk and Oscar Peterson.

The second set will present Fima as a composer and will include Chupakhin's original music. Two incredible musicians and friends will join the trio for this set as special guests - Andrew Renfroe on guitar and Sergey Avanesov on sax.
