“The Jazz Studies program at SUNY Purchase is proud to partner with SmallsLIVE on this important and ground-breaking effort. Indeed, several Purchase professors, including Ralph Lalama, Doug Weiss, Gary Smulyan, Todd Coolman and Head of Jazz Studies Pete Malinverni, perform regularly at Smalls and Mezzrow and the list of Purchase alumnae active at these clubs and in the world of Jazz at large is long, including Smalls/Mezzrow proprietor Spike Wilner, Bruce Harris, Cyrille Aimee, Theo Hill, Wayne Tucker and many, many more.”

Pete Malinverni, Coordinator and Head, Jazz Studies, Purchase College Conservatory of Music, State University of New York

Smalls Jazz Club has been an institution and center for jazz music in New York City since it opened in 1994.  The SmallsLIVE Audio/Video Archive is an on going project with the directive of documenting every performance at Smalls Jazz Club.  To date, the SmallsLIVE Archive contains more than 10,000 videos and audio recordings of shows and represents more than 1000 artists who have performed at Smalls Jazz Club since 2007.

SmallsLIVE is now offering unlimited access to this archive for the benefit of study and listening pleasure.  It gives students and jazz fans a unique window into the day-to-day creation of this music through dozens of artists, some great masters and some up and coming masters to be.  As an educational tool it is unparrelled for the study of the current jazz scene as it unfolds.

SmallsLIVE is offering special subscription packages to universities, high-schools and conservatories for their students.  Offers are negotiable and packages can be custom tailored to suit the needs of specific programs.  Large or small groups of students are welcome.  Generally 3 to 4 month subscriptions are offered which can be renewed on semester-by-semester basis.

Please contact Mrs. Una Stade at or the SmallsLIVE office at for more information or to enroll your program.
